Tottenham Consider Move for Unhappy Manchester City Striker Emmanuel Adebayor

Tottenham are rumoured to be considering a move to sign Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor as Harry Redknapp looks to improve his striking options. The White Hart Lane boss has not been impressed with the lack of end product coming from his current crop of strikers and has previously been linked with a move for the former Arsenal man who has grown unhappy at his slipping down the pecking order at Eastlands.
The Togo international has not started a Premier League match this season and has apparently fallen out with Roberto Mancini leaving many to believe he will be leaving the club either next summer of in January if a suitable bid is forthcoming.

The 26 year old was linked with a move to Juventus but no solid bid was made and he may instead be more interested in a move to another Premier League side where it appears his physicality is better suited. Adebayor has managed an impressive 48 goals in three seasons and has proven what he is capable of in English football.
One major obstacle to any potential move down south could be Mancini’s unwillingness to sell players to club’s he considers rivals a theory that appears to have prevented Shay Given from joining anyone during the summer.

Chelsea Looking To Sign Roma Star On Free Transfer

Chelsea are monitoring contract talks between Roma and their centre back Philippe Mexes.
The France defender, 28, is free to talk to foreign clubs from January 1 because his deal runs out next summer and a new one has yet to be agreed.
Mexes has captained France recently and is one of the candidates to keep the armband permanently under Laurent Blanc.
Having started just 17 games under Claudio Ranieri last season, the defender was the subject of several bids from leading Serie A clubs over the summer, including AC Milan. (Daily Mail)

Mexes has been linked with a move away from Roma for many years, but has always remained loyal to the club. AC Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United are just a few of the clubs that are thought to have registered an interest in the defender previously.
Now though, as his contract looks set to expire, the France international seems like he finally may be ready to move on, and Chelsea appear to be the favourites for his signature.
Mexes is a no-nonsense defender and has all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League. After losing Ricardo Carvalho over the summer, Chelsea would welcome the chance of adding an experienced player to their back line

Tottenham Braced For £20m Real Madrid Raid

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has issued a hands-off warning over left-back Gareth Bale, after reports suggested that Real Madrid were considering a move for Welshman.
Bale, 21, has been one of the stars of Spurs’ squad in recent months, after a slow start at White Hart Lane, but now Redknapp is in no doubt as to his importance to the side and won’t be letting him go anywhere.
“I read in the papers the other day that Gareth’s performances for Spurs have already caught the attention of other teams around the world – including Real Madrid and their manager, a certain Jose Mourinho,” he said in the Sun.
“Jose certainly knows a player when he sees one. But one thing is for sure. I am not letting Gareth go anywhere. Tottenham is a team on the up and we are building something at White Hart Lane. Mourinho can enjoy watching Gareth all he likes but he will be going nowhere.”
Redknapp has poured praise on the youngster and his most recent commendation has likened him to Chelsea star Ashley Cole, rated by many as the best left-back in the world.
“I do not make comparisons lightly but he and Ashley Cole are quite similar and that can only be a massive compliment to Gareth,” said Redknapp. “My left-back at Tottenham has come through an amazing 12 months and matured into one of the best players in his position in the world.
“Just over a year ago, he had this awful jinx hanging over him where he had not played in a winning Spurs team. Cole started out at Arsenal as a left-winger. Gareth was a left-winger as a lad too. Now, I would say he and Ashley Cole are two of a kind in this country and the two best left-backs in England.”
He added: “The main difference between him and Ashley Cole is that he is Welsh – more’s the pity. I would go so far as to say that Gareth is the best player to come out of Wales since Ryan Giggs. As an Englishman, I am highly disappointed he is Welsh.” (ESPN)

Already one of Tottenham’s best players, Gareth Bale is slowly developing into one of the greatest talents in the Premier League. A move away at this stage of his career would be both foolish for himself and for Tottenham.
If Harry Redknapp’s side want to establish themselves as a top four club and in Europe, they must hold on to players like Bale. The club have been forced to sell stars in the past, players such as Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane have been sold on on for hefty transfer fees, but now they are in a position to reject such bids.
Bale has been one of the stars of Tottenham’s encouraging start to the season, and will be looking to continue his good form against Aston Villa this weekend.

Arsenal Line Up Record Breaking £19m January Signing to Boost Title Push: Wenger Set Sights On Liverpool Man

ARSENE Wenger is ready to take advantage of the growing financial crisis at Liverpool by tempting the Anfield club with a bid for Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
The Gunners boss wants a new No1 to replace his error-prone keepers Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski, and identified Reina as his top target in the summer.
In August Liverpool refused Arsenal permission to talk to the 28-year-old, who had just signed a new contract to keep him at Anfield until 2016, and Wenger also failed with a late bid to sign Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer.
However, the deepening financial worries at Liverpool could see them forced to sell off star names in the January transfer window, and Wenger will make another effort to land Reina with a £15m bid.
Liverpool could go into administration if, as expected, they reach the October 6 deadline for their £237m debt repayment to the Royal Bank of Scotland without finding a new buyer for the club.
With their current owners, the American duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett, set to be refused any further financing by the bank, the club could be asked to repay a total outstanding debt of £280m or even fall under the control of the bank.
Despite signing his new deal, Reina is known to have been unhappy at Liverpool since the departure of the man who signed him, Rafael Benitez, and the summer arrival of Roy Hodgson. (Hackney Gazette)

Arsene Wenger has been pilloried for not bringing in a keeper in the last transfer window, a decision that appears to have blown up in his face as Manuel Almunia has as predicted dropped a clanger or three. Lukasz Fabianski may well have put in a decent performance against Partizan but that is something of an anomaly for the Polish keeper.
Pepe Reina is a solid and reliable goalie of the first order and Liverpool will fight tooth and nail to keep him but given the problems at Anfield a bid from Arsenal may well be a tempting one for the Spanish international custodian.
Having failed with a previous bid for the 28 year old it has been reported that Wenger will up his bid significantly to £19m such is the importance the manager now places on a top drawer goalkeeper. Will such a bid succeed?
Some may feel that the fee is inflated but the fee is no more than some sides spend on outfield players and a keeper is as important, if not more so, to a whole side’s performance and maybe the Emirates boss now realises this having had to cope with very average performers since Jens Lehmann left the club.

Chelsea Consider Cheeky Move for £22m Rated Tottenham Youngster

Carlo Ancelotti is rumoured to be plotting a cheeky move to sign Tottenham’s highly rated wide man Gareth Bale as the Blues boss looks to inject more youth into his Stamford Bridge side. The Welsh international has become a target for a number of Europe’s elite with the likes of AC Milan and Real Madrid reportedly considering moves for the 21 year old and now it appears Chelsea have joined an ever growing list of potential suitors.

 After a sticky start at White Hart Lane the former Southampton man has matured into one of the best left sided players in Europe after a year of consistently effective performances that have helped his north London side into the Champions League.
Chelsea have started to bring in young signings as Ancelotti builds the next generation of talent and would like to lure Bale to be part of the club’s future. Having signed the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Ross Turnbull and Ramires coupled with fine up and coming youngsters coming through the club’s academy including hot prospect Josh McEachran, the west London side is hoping to tempt others to join the all conquering champions elect.
Harry Redknapp will fight off interest in the attack minded Welshman who is valued by some as much as £22m. Manchester City are also said to be interested in Bale and if Tottenham fail to secure another top four finish then some may feel the youngster may have his head turned by interest from the Premier League champions.
Anyone who feels such a move unlikely would do well to remember that the Blues are no averse to pinching young talent from their London rivals as evidenced by moves to bring Frank Lampard and Joe Cole to the club some years back.

Manchester United Set Sights On £26m Italian International as Ferguson Looks to Strengthen Midfield

Manchester United are lining up a January move for Italian international Daniele De Rossi as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to strengthen his Old Trafford midfield. The Roma man could be lured to the Premier League after seeing his side begin the season in woeful form.

The local born midfielder has stuck it out at the Stadio Olimpico through thick and thin but now in his ninth season in the first team he may be ready to quit Italy for a new challenge. He has seen his side finish runners up in the Serie A race five times and he was reportedly heartbroken when his side failed to overhaul Inter Milan in a thrilling chase last term.
This term Roma have already all but surrendered any hopes of a long awaited title as they currently sit second from bottom some eight points from top spot and this may all leave Sir Alex Ferguson believing he can win the race to sign the highly rated battler.
Ferguson has seen his side all too easily outbossed in the midfield and the Old Trafford boss is looking for a new addition to his side that can help retain possession and has earmarked a move for the powerfully built 27 year old.
Manchester City and Chelsea were strongly linked with moves for De Rossi during the summer without success but United will try to sign the £26m rated Roma man and will look to make a move in January or failing that next summer. Funding is available to Ferguson despite much reported financial problems the club finds itself in, a point regularly repeated by the club’s Chief Executive David Gill.
